Server Side Engineer

Your Role You will be responsible for the backend development of a VTuber avatar creation app currently in its "0 to 1" (early launch) phase. You will collaborate as a server-side engineer to build the core foundation of the avatar service from the ground up. Responsibilities - Designing, developing, and operating APIs and backend functionalities using TypeScript and Hono. - Developing and operating real-time communication systems using Node.js. - Data modeling and performance optimization utilizing RDBMS and caching mechanisms. - Designing and operating asynchronous processing and distributed jobs leveraging Pub/Sub and task queues. - Designing APIs for frontend integration and internal tooling connectivity. - Setting up and managing observability (Monitoring, Logging, and Tracing). - Maintaining CI/CD pipelines and improving the developer experience. - Conducting code reviews and designing systems with a focus on security and reliability. - Collaborating closely with management, product owners, design teams, and mobile engineers. Development Environment - Cloud: Google Cloud (AlloyDB, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, Firebase, etc.) - Languages / Frameworks: TypeScript, Node.js, Hono, Zod - Frontend / Tools: React, Vite, TailwindCSS, TanStack Query - Databases: PostgreSQL / AlloyDB, Redis / Valkey - Containers: Docker, Docker Compose - Monorepo Management: pnpm, Turborepo - Testing: Vitest - CI/CD: GitHub Actions - API Design: OpenAPI auto-generation, Stoplight integration - Database Management: psqldef, tbls - Quality Control: Biome Job Requirements Required - A strong passion for Japanese entertainment, such as anime, manga, gaming, and VTubers. - Hands-on experience in the design, development, and operation of server applications. - Experience in building and operating infrastructure on cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS). - Experience in system design and development utilizing RDBMS and KVS. - Professional experience in team-based development using Git. - Strong drive to learn new technologies and self-motivation. - Excellent communication skills to collaborate smoothly with the team. - Japanese Language Proficiency: Native-level, or conversational with willingness to achieve business-level. - English Language Proficiency: Comfortable using the language, with a desire to improve. Preferred - Experience in developing and operating server applications using TypeScript. - Experience in developing and operating real-time communication systems using Node.js. - Experience in RDBMS performance tuning. - Experience in system design and development utilizing distributed databases. - Experience in designing and operating scalable and highly reliable backends. - Experience in designing and building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. - Experience in operating Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform. - Experience in developing Web frontends or internal tools using React or Vue.js.
