Senior Market Analyst

Job Description Position Summary - We are seeking an experienced Senior Market Analyst to support the evaluation, optimization, and commercialization of energy storage investments within the Japanese power market. - This role will play a critical part in analysing electricity market trends, identifying investment opportunities, and providing strategic insights to support project and portfolio growth. - The successful candidate will collaborate with investment, development, commercial, operations, and external market stakeholders to help shape the future of energy storage in Japan and beyond. ■Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain market optimisation models to identify electricity market dynamics, revenue opportunities, and investment potential. - Run, maintain, and enhance Python-based analytical and forecasting models. - Collect, evaluate, and interpret market, operational, and technical data to produce actionable business insights. - Design and manage databases that support market analysis, asset operations, and trading performance assessments. - Research electricity market regulations, policy developments, and global energy storage trends. - Develop reports, revenue forecasts, dispatch strategies, and business case analyses to support investment decisions. - Support project development, due diligence activities, technical evaluations, and operational performance reviews throughout the project lifecycle. - Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize project outcomes and portfolio performance. ■Requirements - Bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related discipline. - Minimum 5 years of experience in electricity market analysis, energy consulting, utility companies, renewable energy, or related sectors in Japan. - Strong understanding of power markets, renewable energy economics, and energy storage business models. - Experience using optimisation, simulation, or forecasting tools. - Intermediate to advanced Python programming skills with data analysis and modelling experience. - Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills. - Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a high-performance international team. - Passion for clean energy, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making. - Previous battery energy storage or energy trading experience will be highly regarded. - Business proficiency in English and Japanese English Level Fluent (TOEIC 865-) Japanese Level Fluent(JLPT Level 1 or N1) Benefits - Social Insurance - Commuting/ Transportation Allowance - Holidays Five-Day Workweek - Paid Holidays - Sick Leave
