Senior Frontend Lead

Job Description Join a leading digital commerce organization as a Senior Frontend Engineering Lead, driving the development of customer-facing and operational platforms that support large-scale e-commerce services. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical decision-making, cross-functional stakeholder management, and modern frontend architecture. Description * Lead frontend initiatives from planning and requirements definition through development and deployment * Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and business stakeholders to define project scope and technical direction * Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performance frontend applications * Build reusable React components and contribute to frontend architecture standards * Produce technical specifications, design documentation, and implementation plans * Review code, uphold engineering best practices, and support technical excellence across the team * Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership for project delivery * Present technical proposals, project updates, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences * Drive initiatives that improve development efficiency, quality, accessibility, and user experience * Partner with global teams across multiple locations in a hybrid working environment Profile Experience & Leadership * 5+ years of professional frontend development experience * 3+ years of people management or team leadership experience * Proven track record of delivering frontend projects from requirements gathering through production release * Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Design, Backend Engineering, and QA * Ability to manage technical discussions and influence decision-making across teams Technical Skills * Deep expertise in React, including Hooks, component lifecycle, and modern development patterns * Strong TypeScript knowledge, including advanced typing and type-safe development practices * Hands-on experience with Next.js * Strong understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web development * Experience with modern styling approaches such as Tailwind CSS, CSS Modules, or CSS-in-JS * Experience with frontend testing frameworks including Jest, React Testing Library, and end-to-end testing tools * Strong understanding of Git workflows and code review practices Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies * Experience writing technical specifications, RFCs, or architectural documentation * Familiarity with Jira, Asana, Linear, Notion, or similar project management tools * Experience in e-commerce or high-traffic consumer-facing platforms * Knowledge of modern React server-side technologies and performance optimization * Experience with design systems and component libraries * Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and Core Web Vitals * Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools * Experience supporting internationalization and multilingual applications * Understanding of SEO best practices * Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools responsibly Job Offer * Opportunity to influence the direction of large-scale e-commerce platforms * High-visibility role with significant ownership and technical impact * Collaborative global engineering environment * Exposure to modern frontend technologies and AI-driven development practices * Clear opportunities to mentor engineers and shape engineering culture * Hybrid working environment in Japan * Work on both established services and new digital commerce initiatives
