AI Tech Lead

Job Description A dual-focused role that uses advanced AI technologies such as computer vision, edge AI, and VLMs to solve real-world client challenges while also contributing to the creation of new experiential products powered by brainwave technology and generative AI. In the Visionary Lab within the Advanced AI Development Department, projects are driven along two main pillars: client work and proprietary product development. In this role, your primary responsibility will be leading AI-driven client projects, while leveraging your accumulated technical expertise and problem-solving experience to contribute to the conceptualization and implementation of new experiential products originating from the Visionary Lab. 【Core Focus】Client Work Project Lead (Approx. 50% of Duties) Leads client engagements end-to-end—from initial AI solution proposal to implementation and delivery—to address complex business challenges. ■Computer Vision & Edge AI Solution Development: ・Model design, training, and evaluation for object detection, segmentation, tracking, OCR, etc. (using PyTorch, etc.). ・Edge optimization: Speedup via quantization, distillation, pruning, and deployment with TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, OpenVINO, etc. ・End-to-end pipeline construction from data collection, preprocessing, and evaluation metric design to deployment. ・Example projects: Visual inspection in manufacturing (Jetson optimization), shelf monitoring in retail, driver monitoring in mobility systems. ■Utilization of VLMs & Generative AI: ・VLM: Image-text alignment, search, and explanatory assistance. ・Generative AI: Synthetic data generation, data augmentation including super-resolution and inpainting. ・Proposal & Technical Negotiation: ・Structuring customer issues and proposing optimal solutions through technical research (PoC design, roadmap formulation, risk management). 【Secondary Focus】New Product Engineering from Visionary Lab Visionary Lab—known for initiatives such as brainwave-powered board games and rain-exclusive digital experiences—is a pioneer team creating "future-standard experiences" through AI and Neurotech. This provides engineers with opportunities to commercialize technical expertise honed through client work into in-house, proprietary products. ・Product Development & Commercialization: Concept design, rapid prototype implementation, and business commercialization for new proprietary products. ・Co-Creation Initiatives: Joint innovation projects with enterprise partners, research institutions, and technology startups. Working Hours FLEX-TIME （Core time 11：00～16：00） ※Remote-work possible Job Requirements Required • Practical experience in AI/ML model development: Experience developing with Python and a proven track record of model development using PyTorch or similar frameworks • Project leadership experience: Experience leading AI development projects, including requirements definition, design, reviews, and quality control • Experience with technical proposals and client negotiations: Experience communicating technical details and making proposals to sales teams and clients • Language skills: Business-level Japanese (approximately N1) / English: Ability to read and write technical documents Preferred • Image recognition: Knowledge of and development experience with deep learning and classical image processing • Edge optimization: Deployment experience with TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, Jetson, NPU, etc. • Pipelines: Operational setup including camera input/output and preprocessing (OpenCV, GStreamer, etc.) • VLM: Experience utilizing and evaluating text-conditional search, matching, and explanation assistance • MLOps: Model deployment, monitoring, and continuous learning • Containers: Operational experience with Docker, Kubernetes, etc. • Low-level: Performance tuning using C++ and CUDA • Business Development: Interest in business development or experience launching projects from scratch (0→1) • Other Development: Development experience outside of AI, such as apps, front-end, back-end, or infrastructure
