Mathematical Optimization Engineer

■Job Description The Optimization division is seeking a "Mathematical Optimization Engineer" to lead the technical direction of projects. The company provides mathematical optimization solutions and is recruiting a new member as part of an effort to scale up the team responsible for algorithm development utilizing mathematical optimization techniques. ■Background & Job Description The successful candidate will lead overall operations to solve various client challenges using AI and mathematical optimization techniques. Project Examples: - Developing optimization solutions for various planning schedules in the railway and transportation sectors - Developing optimization solutions for power supply and demand planning - Developing optimization solutions for vessel scheduling and shipping plans ■Responsibilities: - Program design, implementation, and results reporting for optimization engines and solvers - Integration of optimization engines with core enterprise systems - Design and implementation of optimization algorithms for SaaS product development - Requirements gathering and presenting analytical results to clients - Educational initiatives to upskill internal data scientists and enhance technical capabilities ■Job Requirements Required: - Practical experience using mathematical optimization solvers (Gurobi, SCIP, etc.) - Practical experience using mathematical optimization interfaces (gurobipy, pyomo, OR-Tools) Preferred: - Experience in program development using Python or C++ - Experience conducting academic research in mathematical optimization - Experience developing optimization engines using meta-heuristic algorithms - AtCoder Algorithm rating of Light Blue or higher - Experience conducting academic research on heuristic algorithms - Experience in project management - For foreign nationals, Japanese language proficiency at the N2 level or higher - Experience developing in cloud environments such as AWS - Knowledge of domains such as power generation, vessel scheduling, and railways/transportation ■Ideal Applicants - Strong desire to solve challenges in the social infrastructure industry through the power of IT. - Ability to take proactive ownership of problem-solving initiatives. - Ambitious mindset eager to take on new challenges across a broad range of domains. - Respectful attitude that can genuinely appreciate the support of team members and peers.
