Senior Network Systems Engineer

Job Description This is a standalone senior engineering position responsible for the reliability, security, and ongoing development of the company’s infrastructure across its Japanese locations. The role is approximately divided between: - 50% network and systems design, configuration, and implementation - 50% infrastructure maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting The strongest focus is on enterprise networking and high-density Wi-Fi infrastructure. The engineer will support environments containing hundreds of wireless access points, together with switches, network-security platforms, monitoring tools, access-control systems, and related business infrastructure. Responsibilities: - Designing, configuring, and implementing network and systems infrastructure - Managing high-density Wi-Fi environments across multiple sites - Monitoring performance, capacity, availability, and security - Troubleshooting complex network and infrastructure incidents - Supporting physical access-control systems - Managing infrastructure changes and technical documentation - Coordinating with global IT teams and external vendors - Managing incidents and requests through Jira - Participating in emergency support when critical systems fail outside standard business hours Requirements: - Proven experience as a systems / network engineer, with at least 7 years as Network System Engineer - Experience working with IT Service Management principles - Working knowledge of eXtreme Networks, Ruckus or other network equipment (Cisco and Juniper are fine!) - Experience with physical access controls would be an advantage - Familiarity with network security principles and best practices (Zero Trust / SASE) - Knowledge of monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix or similar - Experience with one of the leading Cloud IaaS / PaaS providers (GCP, AWS or Azure) - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills - Strong communication and collaboration abilities - Advanced or native level Japanese and business level or above English Nice to Have: - Experience of working with globally distributed team - ITIL certification Working Hours: - Monthly-reset flex time working hours scheme.
