Backend Engineer (Ruby)
Job Summary
This role involves developing products and features using Ruby on Rails to support cashless payment platforms. The engineer will handle system architecture, define requirements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery. You will work in a hybrid environment, focusing on scaling services while maintaining stable operations and high service quality.

Job Details
Main Responsibilities:
- Development of products and features using Ruby
- Understanding business requirements and designing high-level architecture (overall system structure)
- Defining system requirements, including functional and non-functional requirements
- Implementing and testing code
- Conducting code reviews
- Educating and training team members through hands-on coding and other methods
- Collaborating with team members, engineering managers (EMs), product managers (PdMs), and other stakeholders
- Promoting the globalization of the team
Working Hours:
- Discretionary Work System for Specialized Professionals
- Base hours: 9:30 - 18:30 (60-minute break)
Work Style:
- Hybrid Work Style: In principle, attendance at the office 2 days a week is mandatory; 3 or more days is recommended.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of software development experience
- Practical development experience using Ruby on Rails
- Deep understanding of web service development
- Proven track record of developing high-quality software products and releasing production-ready software
- Experience in Agile/Scrum teams
- Ability to work as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience or interest in AI development/tools
Language Skills:
- English: Business English proficiency equivalent to TOEIC 700 or higher
- Japanese: Conversational level (equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher)
